Got Livermush?

Well, Marion, North Carolina apparently has an abundance.  Enough of an abundance to have a whole festival around said horrifying subject.  Yes, believe it...It is the annual Livermush Festival, which takes place this year on June 7.  The official even description reads: 

Livermush Festival is an annual festival that has the feel of a county fair. Activities include a kids korner with rides and face painting, bands, homemade jellies and jams, a variety of food vendors,crafts, frozen livermush toss and dont forget all the livermush you can eat... Come Join the fun

Really?  I have heard of some strange gatherings around some strange objects, foods, animals, whatever, in my lifetime, but this is one of the strangest.  And yes, well, as much fun as a frozen livermush toss sounds, I will have left the state by that particular date, so I won't be able to partake of the fun...the tears are flowing.
